Have you ever known anyone in life who has major blind spots? I know that my family and friends have let me know about a number of blind spots in my life. Much of the time I get defensive when people give me direct feedback. So, how do we gain self awareness?
One of the best gifts in life I have been given are tools that help me with self-awareness. These tools act as a mirror for all those who take the time to use them. Personality inventories such as the DISC, Strengths Finders, Myers-Briggs, and many more can serve us well. These inventories allow us to dig beneath the surface of our personalities and see patterns in our lives.
Not only can these tools teach us about ourselves but they can also teach us about other people. They can help us become more aware of how we react to other people and the patterns we see in the lives of others. So why is all this information so important?
Because we live our lives that can be very self-centered. We see the world spinning around us rather than around a Divine Maker who has put us together. Self-awareness can actually promote awareness of the needs of others and help us to put others before ourselves.
So I encourage you to find out more about yourself. Socrates once said, "Know thyself." I encourage you to get to know yourself well so you can engage others and the living God who has wired you and made you to do great things for Him in this world.

What does Next Step Resourcing offer?
Next Step Resourcing offers coaching to people who are wanting more growth and results in their life. The service that we offer is to enter into a relationship with a person that will take them on a journey to a new place where they have not yet been. How does that happen?
The first session is where we ask the client to share their goals with us so we can establish a coaching relationship that will focus on the goals of the client. Then we begin asking coaching questions in our sessions that will assist the client to articulate what they are wanting to accomplish and help them make action plans where they want to go.
Why is coaching needed? We find that coaching is needed because the right questions unlock doors to help the client take actions to meet these goals. Without an outside person like a coach guiding the process there can be no movement and the journey can take much longer or often be stalled or stuck.
With coaching goals are met by putting plans into place and encouraging accountability. Celebration happens and new goals are set! So why not get started in coaching today?

The Importance of Follow Through
We are now at the time of year when many new goals are set. Many resolutions and promises are made. There are some people who will follow through on their resolutions but they are far outnumbered by those who never get started or those who give up far too soon.
How can coaching make a difference? Coaching is an experience where you can experience encouraging accountability. By setting action plans with due dates you can be kept accountable by your coach so you can accomplish the goals you have set out to complete.
In the era of the instant generation would it not be refreshing to realize that there is value in hanging in for the long haul. Most accomplishments that are worthwhile will not be completed in minutes or hours. They take weeks, months, and years to get the job done.
So with that in mind what about starting a coaching relationship that would make all the difference for you as we start 2015?

Telling vs Asking
What would you rather have someone do to you? Tell you to do something or have them ask you? Most people I know would rather have someone ask them what needs to be done. At the heart of coaching is asking powerful questions.
Coaching is different than mentoring or advising because coaching is helping find the right answers by directing the coached to resources that will be the right fit. Coaching customizes your own needs rather than have you sift through mounds of experiences from other people. If you have not yet engaged in a coaching relationship I would encourage you to get in contact with us today to discover how you can get started.

Why Coaching?
Coaching has become one of the most powerful ways for people to move ahead. Many people picture coaches yelling on the sidelines. But the coaching we are talking about here is asking powerful questions.
In our rushed routine the average person forgets how to slow down and ask common sense questions. That is what a coach can do for you. Coaches can provide perspective, encouragement, and accountability. A coaching relationship with a good coach can help many people meet goals that would otherwise be unmet.
If you are interested in coaching I would encourage you to call me at 608-354-5803 or e-mail me at drmarkmillman@gmail.com and set up an appointment. No matter where you live we can set up online appointments through www.coachnet.org. This online platform serves as a great way for a two way communication channel.
I look forward to hearing from you!!!
